Pièce d’Eau des Suisses
At only 8 minutes walk from the hotel, the "pièce d'eau des suisses" is a pond which is part of the park of the Palace of Versailles. It is an exceptional place for walking and picnicking. The 13 hectare lake was dug in a marshy area by the Swiss Guards in the service of the King. It was completed in 1683, in the extension of the Orangery of the castle.
How to get there: The main entrance is located Route de Saint Cyr, at the exit of Versailles. If you are coming from the Château, exit through the gate of the orangery. At the end of the rue du maréchal Joffre, you can get to the "pièce d'eau des Suisses" by the "allée des Peupliers". Several accesses are available to enter this exceptional place.
